Description

The itinerary begins in the charming farmhouse of Alessia, just 4 km from the center of Cava. Located on the slopes of Mount San Liberatore, 290 meters above sea level, the village offers an enchanting atmosphere. We continue towards the pass, known as the Valley, where the "pigeon game" was once practiced with stretched nets. The houses, crowded around the small church dedicated to the Archangel Raphael, exude a unique charm. Part of the village was devastated by the flood of 1954, commemorated by a plaque in the small square.

We then head towards the parish church dedicated to San Giuseppe, rebuilt after the flood. From here, immerse yourself in history dating back to the Jubilee of 1900, when the archbishop of Salerno proposed the cross of Saragnano on the mountain of the same name. The cross was erected in 1901, along with a church that was never completed. The pointed arch, the only survivor, offers a spectacular view of the city.

To reach the Saragnano arch, follow a route that starts with a 10-minute drive and continues with a pleasant walk of about 20 minutes.

This itinerary outlines a journey through breathtaking landscapes, history and evocative places of worship, perfect for photographers and romantics looking for unique experiences.
