Description

An evocative itinerary crosses various and enchanting landscapes, intertwining historical memories with architectural and artistic merits. The route begins in Alessia, following the picturesque "Via Vecchia" towards Santi Quaranta. Through the woods, you can glimpse the shrine of the Madonna del Carmine, an exciting stop along the way. From Alessia, there is also the possibility of reaching Santi Quaranta by crossing Marini and deviating towards Arcara, before proceeding towards Dupino.

In Dupino, a visit to the parish church reveals architectural treasures, while along the way other aedicules are discovered, such as that of the Madonna di Porto Salvo near Casaburi (Rotolo). The route winds through the medieval town of Casaburi and continues towards the village of Cava, passing under the imposing motorway viaducts. A hidden place, featured in 19th century engravings, houses a shrine with a black Madonna, adding a touch of spirituality to the journey.

After the descent towards Cava, you cross the via ferrata and go up from Toriello to state road 18, right at the beginning of the sixteenth-century bridge blown up in September '43 and promptly rebuilt by the Anglo-Americans. Before reaching the state road, on the left, you can admire an ancient water mill with its duct. The itinerary can also start from Toriello, climbing to Alessia, offering a unique and complete experience of the region's rich history and scenic beauty.
