Urban park in S. Pietro

  • Via San Giovanni Bosco, San Lorenzo, San Pietro, Cava de' Tirreni, Salerno, Campania, 84013, Italia

The intervention transformed a degraded area of the hamlet, previously occupied by prefabricated buildings after the 1980s earthquake, into a lively urban park of 7200 m2. The project includes pedestrian spaces, cycle paths, games, green areas and an outdoor amphitheater. The main objective is to improve the local quality of life, reducing the sense of insecurity and promoting collective activities. The new structure, connecting two terraces with an accessible pedestrian ramp, aims to become a laboratory of shared experiences, promoting resilience and contributing to the urban and social redevelopment of the area.

Description

The project for the new Inclusive Urban Park was presented in the Hall of Honor of the Palazzo di Città, part of the Integrated Sustainable City Program (Pics) in the framework of the OP FESR Campania.
The park, for which the tender for the awarding of the works is underway for a total amount of 1,871,108.04 euros, extends over 7200 m2, divided into two terraces with an accessible pedestrian ramp and new car parks, including spaces reserved for disabled people. The upper part will be a square for social gatherings, with a play area for children, while the lower part, near the football pitch, will be dedicated to sports and free play. The connection between the two levels will be an equipped path surrounded by blooms of Mediterranean species. The mayor underlined that the project is part of a broader strategy of development and change, with concrete actions underway, including initiatives on other hamlets and urban renewal projects in different areas of the city. The intervention aims to provide the hamlet with innovative services, reduce the sense of insecurity, promote collective activities and combat social exclusion, acting as a laboratory of common experiences.
The Inclusive Urban Park of San Pietro is the last of the eight macro projects presented in recent months of the Integrated Sustainable City Program (Pics), Axis 10 of the PO FESR Campania, financed with 11,197,384.56 euros from the European Community, whose phase planning is followed by the municipal councilor Anna Padovano Sorrentino.
