Founded on devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, it is also committed to promoting socio-cultural activities in harmony with Christian principles, actively collaborating with people and entities at all levels. The association stands out for the sharing of religious values, solidarity towards those experiencing hardship and the preservation of traditions linked to the Marian faith and the work of charity.
Description
The Archconfraternity of Santa Maria del Quadruviale, founded in 1383 in the hamlet of S. Pietro di Cava de'Tirreni, initially called the "confraternity of penance", had its meetings in the sacristy of the church and subsequently acquired the right to govern the church and the pilgrims' hospice. In 1663, the bishop's Curia recognized the congregation's primacy in city processions. Over the years, the Archconfraternity has played a crucial role in the religious and social life of the community, earning the right to preside over religious processions.
Currently, the Archconfraternity stands out for its commitment to the revival and restoration of important historical sites, including the church complex. The services offered by the Church, such as the museum room, the large gardens with centuries-old trees, the five-a-side football pitch and the possibility of ceremonies in an ancient restored cloister, make it a meeting place for young people and adults.
The recent creation of a distinctive brand, curated by MTN, aims to define a recognizable visual identity, based on the image of the church and religious iconography, in order to present the Archconfraternity in a distinctive and cohesive way to the public. This effort is part of a broader project to include the complex among the most important architectural assets of Cava de'Tirreni, contributing to the renewal of the history and culture of the community.
