Church of S. Anna all'Oliveto
- Edifici Religiosi
- Chiesa di Sant'Anna, Via Pasquale Di Domenico, Sant'Anna, Santa Lucia, Santa Rosa, Cava de' Tirreni, Salerno, Campania, 84105, Italia
Built in 1860, St. Anne's Church has a fascinating history. Oral tradition attributes its foundation to Giuseppe Senatore and Gioacchino Viscito, local settlers, originally dedicated to saints Giuseppe and Gioacchino. Subsequently, the chapel took on the title of St. Anne to commemorate a woman's vision. Over the years, the local brotherhood, with the right of patronage, has restored the church several times, preserving its importance in the historical and religious fabric of the community.
Description
The church of Sant'Anna, built in 1860, has a history linked to two local settlers, Giuseppe Senatore and Gioacchino Viscito, considered the founders. Initially dedicated to Saint Joseph and Saint Joachim, the hall-plan building with square bell tower has plastered stone masonry structures with a gable roof. The external decorations include a niche with a fresco of Sant'Anna and the Madonna, a blind rose window and lateral pinnacles.
The Trombonieri Sant'Anna all'Oliveto group, founded eighty years ago by Vincenzo Senatore and Vincenzo Baldi, is the oldest association in Cava de' Tirreni. The club colors, yellow, green and white, recall the image of Saint Anne. The shield depicts an armed arm, emblem of the Baldi family, and the district to which it belongs is Sant'Adiutore. The group, originally from the hamlet of Santa Lucia, now rooted in Sant'Anna, includes seven female trombone players, a distinctive element.
The president, Daniele Cibelli, underlines that the group is not just a social activity but represents friendship, solidarity and life. In addition to the traditional performances of flags, clarions, drums and trombone players, the association stands out for its historical procession, enriching its identity over time. The constant presence of women in arms is a peculiarity that contributes to making Sant'Anna all'Oliveto a unique and vibrant group in the tradition of Cava de' Tirreni.
