The Diecimare Natural Park, WWF Oasis, embraces the municipalities of Cava de'Tirreni, Mercato S. Severino and Baronissi, in the province of Salerno. Located between the Lattari Mountains and the Picentini Mountains, it includes the reliefs of Montagnone, Monte Caruso, Forcella della Cava, Poggio and Monte Cuculo, reaching 618 meters above sea level. Characterized by the alternation of wooded areas, garrigue and low scrub, the park acts as a natural botanical garden, hosting around 200 plant species from 40 different families in just a few hectares.
Description
The intervention aimed at the integrated valorization of the Diecimare Park Oasis and the natural, historical-cultural and landscape resources of its territory to promote city development. The strategic objectives included the promotion of innovative interventions for the protection and enhancement of the environmental and cultural heritage, actively involving the population, and the repositioning of tourism through the development of alternative forms of tourism. Furthermore, it aimed to raise citizens' awareness of responsible and eco-sustainable behaviour.
Among the planned interventions, the construction of a new visitor center of approximately 140 m2, the strengthening of the paths with technological solutions to reduce energy consumption in public lighting on the access road to the park, and the updating of the signage map with QR code to provide information and images on the route. The Visitor Center, at the entrance to the Park, includes a small naturalistic museum and an exhibition of typical local products.
The park offers suggestive itineraries such as the nature trail, the falcon trail and the trail of the two gulfs. Educational areas such as the Bombo one, ideal for the study of insects, the Bee House, for observing bees at work, and the Aula Verde, with the orchid garden, enrich the visitor's experience in the Diecimare Oasis. This intervention aims to consolidate the connection between the local community and the natural and cultural richness of the area.
