Description
The recognition of the "Places of Power (568-774 AD)" as a UNESCO world heritage site gave rise to the Center for Lombard Studies in Milan, dedicated to promoting the scientific study of the Lombard age. In this context, the interactive Museum on the civilization of southern Lombardy in Cava de' Tirreni aims to enhance the historical, monumental and cultural legacy of the Lombard presence in Southern Italy (6th-11th century).
The structure aims to conduct rigorous scientific research in collaboration with the University of Salerno, focusing on educational and dissemination purposes through the use of innovative tools and methodologies. This approach not only contributes to the in-depth knowledge of the Lombard era but also integrates Cava de' Tirreni into a broader circuit of scientific research and cultural tourism.
Housed in the monumental complex of San Giovanni, the museum's multimedia exhibition presents a wide range of original content, such as video interviews with scholars, film scenes with actors in period costume and video documentaries on monuments and artistic elements. This initiative not only enriches the city's cultural heritage but also places it in a position of relevance in the context of scientific research and cultural tourism.
