The urban park in Corso Principe Amedeo, part of a large decongestion project on the S.S.18, constitutes a green lung and public spaces in the urban context, developing on the roof slab of the Salerno-Naples railway. The area, between the Caliri flyover and the bridge on via Tommaso di Savoia, presents itself as an "urban void" integrated into the surrounding architecture.

Description

In Cava de' Tirreni, the Mayor Vincenzo Servalli chaired an operational meeting with the municipal technicians and the managers of the Gi.Ga Project business group to discuss the creation of the new urban park designed by the architect Pica Ciamarra e Associati. With a central position, it unites two consolidated areas of the city: the historic one to the west and the residential one to the east.

The work, extending over 300 meters of Corso Principe Amedeo, on the roof of the railway trench, begins construction in 2021 with an expected duration of 8 months. The financing of approximately 3.4 million euros is part of the PIU Europa plan, assigned to the Municipality through the program agreement of 12.29.2015.

Mayor Servalli underlined the importance of the work in reconnecting the valley floor previously divided by the railway and the reinforced concrete trench. Within the year, the new park will revolutionize the stretch of road and liveability, offering green spaces and facilities for socialization and children. This project, together with 8 other large Pics projects, financed and tendered, demonstrates the administration's commitment despite the pandemic, maintaining the set objectives of change and development.
