Description
The intervention involved the creation of a large inclusive accessible park with pedestrian spaces, games, greenery, sports and gymnastic equipment, and children's rides, promoting urban and social redevelopment in an area of approximately 4,000 square meters occupied for decades by post-earthquake prefabricated buildings, characterized by strong degradation and urban marginality. The objective is to provide the area with qualified and innovative services, transforming it into a multipurpose space for collective neighborhood activities, in order to reduce social exclusion, the perception of insecurity and promote integration between different segments of society, involving social enterprises and third sector organisations.
The project is financed with 1,404,638.30 euros from the Integrated Sustainable City Program (Pics), Axis 10 of the PO FESR Campania, part of a broader program with 8 macro projects and 11 total interventions, supported by 11,197,384.56 euros of European Community funds.
The new park, located in Santa Lucia, will offer a 4,000 square meter green area with themed areas, sports equipment, rides, services, and spaces for events and socialization. Thanks to specific characteristics, the park will be one of a kind, surrounding a school and promoting collaboration with experts in nature and botany to make the park inclusive in all aspects. The introduction of elements such as the butterfly garden, aromatherapy and chromotherapy, the garden of aromatic medicinal plants and the horticultural area will contribute to offering inclusive workshops with the active participation of local associations and schools.
