The museum, unique in its kind, is built in the rooms on the first floor of the monumental complex of San Giovanni (formerly Eca) and is the first of the four interventions envisaged in the broader Pics project "Integrated Cultural System". The large exhibition rooms host ceramic works through acquisitions and donations, such as the collection of Linda Burkhardt, but also of other great artists of the 20th century, from the centers of ancient tradition of southern Italy.

Description

Documentation, conservation and promotion of the history of the industrial and artisanal development of Cavese ceramics, workshops, training and cataloging and conservation of projects, prototypes or anything produced by contemporary artists.

«The Museum of Contemporary Mediterranean Ceramics (MCCM) aims to dialogue with other production realities in the field of ceramics not only at a regional but also national and international level - say professors Massimo Bignardi and François Burkhardt who signed the scientific project of the newborn museum - and to become the first large interregional Fund of the entire southern area, documenting and promoting the ceramic production of contemporary art and industrial design, documenting the artists and artists/designers who have operated both in artisanal and in the industries of the sector, regenerating and renewing the millenary tradition. The focus ranges from the production of objects to that of design elements for interiors and urban areas. The objective is to promote a process of recognisability of the identity of southern ceramics and, at the same time, to encourage synergy with the world of industrial design production, of which the Cava de' Tirreni companies have been protagonists on a global level. national".
