Saint Peter Park
Inauguration Tuesday 25 June - 10:00 am, in the presence of the governor of Campania, Vincenzo De Luca.
The urban regeneration work has transformed the post-1980 earthquake prefabricated fields of the San Pietro hamlet into a large inclusive park which within the next few weeks will be officially named after the historic family of the "Genovese" hamlet. The works are among the projects of the Integrated Sustainable City Program (Pics), Axis 10 of the PO FESR Campania, financed with approximately 20 million euros, managed by the Councilor delegated to the Pics Anna Padovano Sorrentino.
The new park extends over an area of 7200 m2, financed for a total amount of 1,871,108.04 euros, and is spread over two levels, connected to each other by a ramp and a staircase, created in the current embankment . The two levels of the park, although connected, host different functions and have different types of flooring and arrangements. The upper part of the park is a space for aggregation, it hosts a kiosk with toilets, a lookout area and an inclusive play area for children, all among trees and large flower beds. This portion of the park also has a new car park. The lower part of the park, however, adjacent to the peripheral municipal football field, reinforces the sporting vocation of the area by hosting areas equipped for training and various games. In fact, a bowling green and a multi-purpose pitch for basketball, volleyball and tennis have been created, as well as a large central lawn dedicated to relaxation, rest and play.
