Inauguration of the new urban park of Saint Peter
A territorial rehabilitation operation thanks to Pics funds in the heart of the hamlet of San Pietro. The ribbon of the San Pietro urban park was cut.
In the presence of the President of the Region Vincenzo De Luca, the third park created with Pics funds was handed over to the city, after the central park and the park in the Santa Lucia hamlet.
After the ribbon cutting held by the children of the “ Dopo di Noi ” and “ Unlimited Sport ” associations, Mayor Servalli and President De Luca visited the 7200 m2 of the new park built in place of the degraded area of the post-earthquake prefabricated fields of 1980. The blessing was officiated by the parish priest of San Pietro Don Vincenzo Di Lieto.
“Today we inaugurated a new beautiful park – states Mayor Servalli – it is an enormous emotion to see the projects that are transforming our city come to fruition, above all we have eliminated all the areas of degradation of the container fields, places of suffering for many families and generations of young people who had never seen a home. Now parks and new meeting places are being created in those places."
The construction works of the Inclusive Urban Park in the hamlet of San Pietro, for a total amount of 1,871,108.04 euros, are among the projects of the Integrated Sustainable City Program (Pics), Axis 10 of the PO FESR Campania, financed with approximately 20 million of euros, edited by the Councilor delegated to the Pics Anna Padovano Sorrentino.
“An example of good administration – states President De Luca – here in Cava de' Tirreni the Region's money is spent well and gives excellent results for the improvement of the city. In particular, this park inaugurated this morning is truly a beautiful work that heals a 40-year wound. And from what they told me, we will see each other again soon to inaugurate other works."
The new park is spread over two levels, the upper one houses a kiosk with toilets, a viewing area and an inclusive play area for children, then a path winds through trees, large flower beds, aromatic and medicinal plants, the lower part is dedicated to sports with a fitness area, bowling green and multi-purpose basketball court.
“Great happiness for the inauguration of the redevelopment project of the San Pietro hamlet – states the Councilor delegated to the Pics Anna Padovano Sorrentino – with a park designed to satisfy the aggregation needs of citizens”.
